Briefly describe your graduate project: Conducting a two-year
study using radio telemetry to estimate the spawning distribution and
riverine habitat use of sockeye salmon in the Chilkat River drainage
(RR/04-09). The Chilkat River lies just north of Haines, Alaska.
Why did you choose UAF? I have worked with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for 8 years in Haines, and this program allowed me to stay close to home while studying under a high-quality faculty.
Favorite pastimes and hobbies: Playing basketball, softball, and volleyball; running; coaching little league; playing mandolin; and hiking in beautiful Southeast Alaska.
Most interesting educational experience so far: I spent 5 months in Nepal, outweighs any formal education I have received.
Future plans: I plan to finish my degree and then think about the future. Ideally, I will stay in Southeast Alaska playing with fish.
