Post Award Guidelines for Research Projects
Reporting requirements of the National Sea Grant College Program, NOAA, make it important for us to have accurate and current information for all projects supported through the Alaska Sea Grant College Program.
How to submit your reports
To make it as easy as possible for you to get updated report information to us, we have created an online update form for progress and completion reports.
NOTE: we are temporarily using an HTML form for project reports. To prevent spamming of the form, we have unlinked it from this page. Please contact us for the address. (We apologize for the inconvenience.)
You may type new text in the update form, or you may copy the information from the text on your Project Summary 90-2 record, paste it into the update form, and then correct it there. Current projects can be found on our current summaries page; older projects can be found on our archives page. View your project's current Project Summary 90-2 information by clicking on the project number.
Please fill in or correct only the fields that need to be changed. You MUST enter the project number on the update form. It is essential that we know which project you are updating. When you have completed updating your project report, click on the "Submit project report" button. The updated report form will be transmitted to Alaska Sea Grant. This will not immediately change the Project Summary/Report as it appears on the Web. We will update the database after reviewing your submission. It may take up to several days for your updates to be reflected in the information on the Web.
The technique we suggest to help you with your update is to have two browser windows open simultaneously. View your project's 90-2 Project Summary information in one browser window and open the update form in the other browser window. This way you can see all of the information we currently have on your project and revise it on the form as needed.
Guidelines for updating your project
Please provide information on those topics relevant to your project. For most projects, the blocks for Accomplishments, Products, Outcomes/Impacts, Publications, Presentations, and Students supported are those that will require new input. We have not provided blocks for Objectives, Rationale, Methodology, or Benefits in our update form because we assume they have not changed. If you need to update any of those fields, please use the box provided for other changes at the end of the form. Each block on the form has a brief description of the kind of information we are looking for; below are a few further details for selected blocks.
Our project summaries are public documents. Please keep in mind that the information you provide is readily available to the public.
- Accomplishments: Summarize findings of your research or achievements in education or advisory projects. Please cite any specific benefits, applications, and uses stemming from this project. Include benefits expected in the future; where possible, quantify. Include who outside the research community you anticipate will be applying these research results and uses.
- Products: Include any awarded or pending patents and copyrights resulting from this project.
- Publications and presentations: Provide full citations for all published materials, and include available information for those manuscripts that have been submitted but not yet published. For presentations, include title of talk, date, location, and name of professional meeting or conference.
Keep in mind that Sea Grant pays page charges for articles based on Alaska Sea Grant–funded research that appear in professional journals. We also pay for the reprints. See Publishing Alaska Sea Grant Work for details. Please don't forget to acknowledge Sea Grant in any published work resulting from this support. Contact us for grant and project number. Our logo can be downloaded for use in posters and PowerPoint presentations when appropriate.
- Extras and follow-up: Aside from the objectives of this project, what is the most "special" thing that resulted because you undertook this work? What sort of follow-up activity should take place to ensure that the results of this project are applied to the fullest extent possible?
- Other changes to 90-2 form: Notes, comments, changes to objectives or methods, and other miscellaneous information can be entered here.
If you have any questions or concerns about updating your project information, please ask! Contact us by email or by phone, (907) 474-7088.
