Information & Training Plan
12th Annual Alaska Regional Ocean Sciences Bowl, "Alaska Tsunami Bowl"
Seward, Alaska, 6–8 February 2009
Information
Welcome to the 2009 Alaska Tsunami Bowl, the Alaska region competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. For general information on this competition, please see What is NOSB. For information on how to participate, please see the Invitation to Coaches and other links at left.
Intent to participate forms are due by November 15, 2008. Please email Phyllis Shoemaker for the URL to the forms. (We've had problems with spammers.)
Visit the national site for NOSB registration forms (team registration form, parental consent form, coach medical form, student medical form, and photo release form) that must be submitted before traveling to Seward in February.
Once again this year, the Alaska Region NOSB will consist of two equally weighted parts: a tournament-style academic competition designed to challenge and recognize the students' knowledge of sciences in the context of the oceans; and a project with written and oral components. The project meets all of the State of Alaska high school English standards, including writing.
