Call for Posters
This workshop will address the topic of marine habitat mapping technologies. A major challenge lies in reconciling (1) the need to define and characterize marine habitats over areas large enough to be useful for management or predictive modeling purposes with (2) the capabilities and cost of the technologies available to accomplish this at adequate resolution. For more about the symposium background and goals, please see the habitat mapping workshop information page.
Topics
This call for posters seeks contributions on marine habitat mapping especially, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Habitat mapping needs
- Habitat mapping capabilities—sonar and other geophysical mapping scales
- Habitat mapping capabilities—visual observation scale
- Use of databases and GIS for production of thematic maps
- Habitat mapping projects
The format is intended to serve both the wider community that has a stake in the management of marine resources, and the managers and researchers who need specific technical knowledge about marine habitat mapping. Poster submissions from all interested parties are encouraged. Posters may address any topic related to habitat mapping and its use for marine resources management.
