Summary

Tanner crab males in Alaska mature at about 50 to 120 mm carapace width, but they can't be harvested until they are over 140 mm in the Gulf of Alaska. In a sample of Tanner crabs from the Cook Inlet fishery, the authors found that only males more than 119 mm can recruit to the legal size of 140 mm in a single molt.
