Alaska Diving Safety: Workshop Proceedings

Description

The dive harvest industry is poised to boom in Alaska. As fisheries are set up for sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and geoducks, a lot of untrained divers will be harvesting this bonanza. Anticipating a large increase in diving for fun and profit in Alaska's waters, Alaska Sea Grant and the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association held a workshop in July 1997 in Sitka, Alaska, to identify safety education needs for the dive industries. This booklet, a summary of the meeting, is useful to all who are concerned about commercial and recreational dive safety in Alaska.
